BBC Presenter: Waka as he was known by friends was described as passionate kind and caring. After travelling from Germany, he spent months in County Durhum, there he played a key role in a campaign that had hoped to stop work at an open cast coal mine in Dipton.
June Davidson: Waka was an amazing person, he had a profound and long lasting impression on everyone who met him. He had a sophisticated intelligence and also the curiosity of a child. He was an absolutely amazing person who made a really big impact on us all here.
BBC Presenter: After leaving County Durhum, reports say Waka became a volunteer with a Kurdish led People’s Protection Unit and during a battle with the group calling
itself Islamic State in Northern Syria he and three other volunteers were killed in a rocket attack.
Anne Harris: Waka was an incredibly careful, considerate thoughtful person, who payed attention to all of the aspects of something before he did it before he engaged in something. He was always very keen to learn he asked people about themselves a lot of people thought very highly of him, because he really cared and he really listened, he payed attention and wanted to know more and wanted to work out how we could better get along.

We’re never ready when a comrade passes away. Botan was with Şehid Şahin there and… It’s just like seeing a little of ourselves leave with them because it’s people whom we spend all day with, all of our life with, we eat together, we sleep together.

Botan for example, he remembers everyone waking up together for the [inaudible]. Botan would turn on music to wake us up and Şehid Şahin was the only one happy he’d say “Thank you for waking me up this way, with music, it’s nice.

He’d always bring a great mood to the group, he’d always help others when he could and in the end it had to be him that had to leave.

He was in charge of a group and because it was going so well with him, we sort of already saw him as the commander of international units, Şehid Şahin.

There was also [name] who was with him as well and who couldn’t come, because it was too hard for him but he’s here in thoughts and there’s also many other international comrades who wanted to come but couldn’t make it because it was too far away, but in the end, everyone’s thinking about Farid today.

But it was his way of seeing things, he was a humanist.
He didn’t know how to make war, he did not have a military mindset, he was an ecologist, a pacifist, but he couln’t sleep like that knowing
NATO turned away from the Kurds, and he joined all the young men fighting for Kurdistan, in the YPG, People’s Protection Units.
Now I share his fight and I would like to avenge my son, if any people here can send me to Syria, because he was my son.
He left as a grown man but, I still remember him as my baby.

Message from the International Academy: Sehid Şahin Qereçox arrived to Rojava in June, to fight alongside the YPJ, and in defence of the revolution against Daesh, the Turkish Army and Fascism.
He came to this decision, having been involved in many struggles against the system that is bringing death to nature and the communal values of people.
Also, he came to learn and share life with the comrades who are building up an alternative to the capitalist state system and defending themselves against those who profit from it.
Fighting Daesh on the front of Hajin, Deir al-Zour province Heval Şahin, became martyred in an attack of the enemy on the 6th of October.
We are carrying Sehid Şahin’s spirit of resistance forward he is here amongst us making us understand better the importance of an internationalist struggle reminding us that although different backgrounds have shaped us, our aim is one.
His memory helps us to continue, because we know that our war is different from the enemy’s war.
Why?
Because we try to create life and celebrate it in everything we do fighting an armed struggle always goes together with living a communal life with protecting nature and our freedom based principles.
We try to live the life we’re fighting for in the moment, this is the struggle that Şahin has joined he inspires us, the one’s that knew him and that ones that never got chance to meet him to always explore different ways of struggle. Because our diversity and identity and approach nourishes a united path it is a revolutionary path that we chose to follow, to shape us as internationalists.
With every tree we plant, every seed we grow every song we dance to, every bullet we shoot, Sahin lives on and with him, all the other
friends who have fought for freedom until the end.
We want to work harder, to create more beauty, to listen to each other to educate ourselves and each other, to make them proud. Our fallen comrades in the struggle for freedom never die.
Long live internationalism, long live the anti-fascist revolution in Kurdistan and everywhere.

Après avoir voyagé depuis l’Allemagne, il a passé 4 mois dans le comté de Durhum,
Là il y a joué un rôle clé dans une campagne

Waka était une personne incroyable, il avait une impression profonde et durable sur tous ceux qui le rencontraient.

il était une personne absolument incroyable qui a eu un impact très important sur nous tous ici.
Après avoir quitté le comté de Durhum, Waka devenu volontaire auprès d’une unite de protection du peuple dirigée par des Kurdes
Et lors d’une bataille avec le groupe qui s’appelle l’Etat islamique dans le nord de la Syrie,
lui et 2 des autres volontaires ont été tués dans une attaque à la roquette.
Waka était incroyablement prudent, attentionné,
réfléchi, qui prêtait attention à tous les aspects de quelque chose avant de lefaire,
avant de s’engager dedans. Il avait toujours très soif d’apprendre,
il demandait aux gens de raconter leur histoire,
beaucoup de gens le tenaient en haute estime, car il avait une réelle considération,
et il écoutait vraiment, il était attentif et voulait en savoir plus,
et voulait trouver comment nous pourrions mieux nous entendre.

On le voyait déjà commandant des unités internationales, Şehid Şahîn.

Il y a [nom] qui était avec lui aussi et qui n’a pas pu venir,
parce que c’était trop dur pour lui mais il est là en pensées,
et il y a aussi beaucoup d’autres camarades internationaux qui voulaient venir

finalement, tout le monde aujourd’hui pense à Farid.
et je remercie tout le monde ici,
je suis ému de voir mon fils dans ce cercueil.
Mais c’était sa façon de voir les choses, il était humaniste,
il [ne savait pas faire la guerre], il n’avait pas d’esprit militaire, il était écologiste, pacifiste;
mais il ne dormait pas comme ça sachant que l’OTAN se détournait des Kurdes
et il a rejoint tous les jeunes hommes se battant pour le Kurdistan, au YPG, Unités de Protection du Peuple.
Maintenant, je partage son combat et je voudrais venger mon fils,

Il est venu à cette décision, ayant été impliqué dans de nombreuses luttes,
contre le système qui apporte la mort à la nature et les valeurs communes des gens.
Il est également venu pour apprendre et partager la vie avec les camarades qui
construisent une alternative au système d’État capitaliste,
et qui se défendent contre ceux qui en profitent.
Combattre Daesh sur le front de Hajin, dans la province de Deir al-Zour,
Heval Şahin est devenu martyr lors d’une attaque de l’ennemi le 6 octobre 2018.
Nous portons l’esprit de résistance de Sehid Şahin,
il est ici,
parmi nous,
nous faisant mieux comprendre l’importance d’une lutte internationaliste,
nous rappelant que même si différentes origines nous ont façonnés, notre objectif n’est qu’un.

Parce que nous essayons de créer la vie et de la célébrer dans tout ce que nous faisons,
combattre dans une lutte armée va toujours de pair avec une vie commune,
avec la protection de la nature et nos principes basés sur la liberté.
Nous essayons de vivre la vie pour laquelle nous nous battons dans l’instant,
c’est la lutte à laquelle Şahin s’est joint,
il nous inspire, ceux qui le connaissaient et ceux qui n’a jamais eu la chance de le rencontrer,
à toujours explorer différents moyens de lutte.
Parce que notre diversité, notre identité et notre approche nourrissent un chemin uni.
C’est un chemin révolutionnaire que nous avons choisi de suivre pour nous façonner en internationalistes.
Avec chaque arbre que nous plantons,
chaque graine que nous cultivons,
chaque chanson à laquelle nous dansons,
chaque balle que nous tirons,
Sahin continue de vivre et avec lui,
tous les autres amis qui se sont battus pour la liberté jusqu’à la fin.
Nous voulons travailler plus fort,
pour créer plus de beauté,
pour nous écouter les uns les autres, pour nous éduquer nous
et les autres, pour les rendre fiers.
Nos camarades tombés au combat dans la lutte pour la liberté ne meurent jamais.

Waka, wie er seinen Freunden bekannt war, wurde als gut und fürsorglich beschrieben.
Nach seiner Reise aus Deutschland verbrachte er 4 Monate in Durhum County,
Dort spielte er eine Schlüsselrolle in einer Kampagne
der gehofft hatte, die Arbeit in einem Tagebau in Dipton einzustellen.
Waka war eine unglaubliche Person, er hatte einen tiefen und bleibenden Eindruck bei jedem, der ihn traf.
Er hatte eine ausgeklügelte Intelligenz und auch die Neugier eines Kindes,
Er war eine absolut erstaunliche Person, die uns alle hier sehr beeinflusst hat.
Nach dem Verlassen des Bezirks Durhum wurde Waka Freiwilliger bei einer von Kurden geführten Volksschutzeinheit
Und in einem Kampf mit der Gruppe namens ISIS in Nordsyrien,
Er und zwei weitere Freiwillige wurden bei einem Raketenangriff getötet.
Waka war unglaublich vorsichtig, fürsorglich,
nachdenklich, auf alle Aspekte von etwas aufmerksam, bevor Sie es tun,
bevor Sie sich daran beteiligen. Er war immer sehr wissbegierig,

Sehid Şahin Qereçox Farid [Name] kam im Juni in Rojava an

er inspiriert uns, diejenigen, die ihn kannten und diejenigen, die nie die Gelegenheit hatten, ihn zu treffen,
immer verschiedene Wege des Kampfes erkunden.
Weil unsere Vielfalt, unsere Identität und unser Ansatz einen gemeinsamen Weg führen.
Es ist ein revolutionärer Weg, den wir gewählt haben, um uns zu Internationalisten zu formen.
Mit jedem Baum, den wir pflanzen,
jeder samen wachsen wir,
jedes Lied, zu dem wir tanzen,
jede Kugel, die wir schießen,
Sahin lebt weiter und mit ihm zusammen,
alle anderen Freunde, die bis zum Schluss für die Freiheit gekämpft haben.
Wir wollen härter arbeiten,
um mehr schönheit zu schaffen,
einander zuhören, uns erziehen
und die anderen, um sie stolz zu machen.
